Cynthia and Paul married yesterday at Mission Concepcion.

Both of them currently live in Florida, so logistics and coordination were key.

The only hitch of the day was a small problem with the unity candle, but everything worked out just fine.

I was also very happy to have my friend and fellow photographer Alan Amato there. He is a great assest to the company.. and a great photographer....

However... I do have to question his dancing skills :)

(Ooooh... I am gonna get it for this)

We will miss you, friend.

It is with a sad and heavy heart that we here at Micha-Angel Productions to receive news of the passing of Mrs. Lisa Calderon.

Lisa was a co-worker of Tara's at Steubing Elementary, and was like a big sister to her.

On Sunday July 5th, Lisa suffered a massive stroke.

She fought as hard as she could, but finally succumbed to death today, July 11th.

I - Eric - always respected Lisa for how she taught, and for what she meant to my wife

She will be missed.

Anna told me not to talk to James before the wedding because we have so much in common and she was afraid james wouldn't make it to his own wedding.

At the reception I was tlaking to James about life in general (politics and all that...)

Evelyn and David tied the knot on June 6th, 2009 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. A journey 9 years in the making!!

We covered both photo and video on this shoot, and I was honored to have my friend, fellow former military member and photographer Alan Amato there to cover the main part of the photography during the wedding Mass.

My parents - Edward and Patricia Adam - celebrated their 40th anniversary today. I was very fortunate to prove some photo and video coverage fo this. Father Scott Katzenberger of Holy Ghost Church in Houston was very gracious in his permissions. My parents never expected anyting that happened today.

Fr. Scott not only mentioned them in the Mass intentions, but also had parts of his homily for them, and also called them up for a special blessing after Holy Communion.

Afterwards, we went to a Benihanna which my parents have never been to before. My mother always plays 20 questions with something she's never been to before.. fortunately my brother was there to help with the questions of going to a Japanese Steakhouse.

From a photographers note, I have total respect and admiration for the photographer who covered my parents wedding : Al Peguero . He didn't have the technology that we have today, and Holy Ghost church is a very dark church to shoot in.

It has very dark ceilings which asorbs so much light from a flash. He did not have the luxury that we modern photgrpahers have of looking on the back of the camera and seeing how a pitcure turns out.

My mother presenting a boquet to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, just as she did 40 years ago. This time the boquet had 3 roses representing her 3 childer, and 8 other roses which represent her 8 grandchildren.

My nephews and niece were able to attend, so we decided to get a picture with them on the very altar that their grandparents were married 40 year prior.

I decided to have a little fun wih the flash settings, and creat the high contrast shot right after I took the one above

Chrissy and Armando tied the knot yesterday in New Braunfels. Even though that was slight scare with the overblown "H1N1/Swine Flu" virus possiblity shutting down the church earlier in the week, everything went off pretty much perfectly. Here are some images from yesterday. (Click on them to see a larger version)

I am curious though.. just exactly how many people does it take to bussel a dress? Well.. at least Chrissy was enjoying a nice glass of lemon water while everyone else.. to include Armando... was trying to figure it out. :)

Michaela Makes First Communion

My eldest baby, and one of the "Child Chief Executive Officers" of Micha-Angel Productions - Michaela - made her First Holy Communion on Sunday May 3rd, 2009.

I was very fortunate to have my parents there, and it was a very beautiful and event filled day.

And of course, me being the over zealous , photo-taking daddy that I am, I of course had to do a photo shoot with her back at the hotel. When I got this picture, she was getting pretty "pictured out", but I still think this came out very well.

My thanks and appreciation to all of my current clients as I was travelling for this event. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!

What a wild week this has been!

We decided to officially sponsor the San Antonio Tea Party about two weeks ago, and we donoted our services to make the following promo video:

We uploaded the video to Glenn Beck's 912Project to help to bring attention to our local gathering here in San Antonio.

The same day, at about 5 p.m. I received a call from one of the executive committee members informing me that Glenn Beck had played the video:

Ever since that moment, it has been a wild and crazy ride. And it isn't any near over yet.

Needless to say the next two weeks are going to be even crazier!!

Chrissy and Armando's Engagement Shoot

2009 Season is almost here

Our 2009 Season is about to kick off... and what a kick off it will be.

On February 21st, Jessica and Jeff will be getting married.

If that wasn't special enough, they are getting married in my hometown Church in Anderson, Texas.

Not only did my own ancestors build this church (and as all good Polish people do, we didn't build just once, but twice), but I also was an altar boy there for about 10 years.

Beautiful church with genuinely antique stained glass windows.

She [the church] has still kept much of her splendor despite the changes that were brought on by the Second Vatican council.

Currently the church is having the Stations of the Cross restored as well as a 19th Century Baptismal font.

I will be covering both photo and video for this wedding, and this is will be a very special event as this will be the first wedding that I have covered on a professional level in my hometown church.

Robert Adam - 1933 - 2008

It was with great sadness that we learned right after the Yanchak Reunion, that my Grandfather's baby brother, Robert Adam, lost his battle with Cancer on October 4th, 2008.

Uncle Bob was a very influential figure in my life, even if he didn't know it.

He took over my Great-Grandfather's machine shop, and turned into a manufacturing/fabrication shop.

He always loved doing innovative things, and he took that skill with him when he joined the US Navy.

After returning from the service, he continued his work at the machine shop, and was awarded 3 patents fromt he US Patent office.

A "tight-lipped" man - hardly ever complanied. Did what he loved, and loved what he did.

Uncle Bob was buried with Military Honors for the US Navy, in Okeene, OK. My parents and I attended the services.

Above is the bugler playing taps, and the presentation of the flag to my cousin Laurie.

We also spent time with other family members, and more of that will be described later.

Rest in Peace Uncle Bob, we will miss you.

The 13th Annual Yanchak Reunion

Well... we went from the German side with my grandafther, to the Polish side with Yanchak Family Reunion (for more info you can click on http://www.yanchak.com/)

My Mother - Patricia Yanchak Adam (pictured right) has nutured and planned these events, and they have grown to such a size, I suggested to her that we get a bigger hall. This year we did, and it was much more comfortable.

I put the the full resources of Micha-Angel Productions to use, and my good video buddy and family member - Jonetta Barnett (pictured on the left with her daughter) and her husband Elvin also contributed greatly to the capturing of the prayer service that we celebrated. Thanks Jonetta & Elvin!!

I also got the chance to do an imprmptu photo session for my cousin Kristin Yanchak Vance, and her newborn son, the youngest of the Yanchak tree - Jacob. (pictured right)

After a long day, it was obvious that everyone was pretty tired...as my father demonstrates on the left... (Sorry Pop... I couldn't resist. :) )

Edward Adam, Sr. Visits Texas

One of the greatest men and influences in my life has been my Grandfather - Edward Adam, Sr.

He has been living on the West Coast for sometime now, and we have never been able to get out there to see him.

Well - as the old saying goes - "Let the mountain come to Mohammed.." My grandfather - as well as my uncle - traveled from the West coast to visit relatives in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas.

We took him to the "Wendish Festival" just south of Giddings, Texas which featured all things German. (Which is the country of origin for the Adam Family)

Even at 92, my grandfather can still dance :)

We were also very fortunate to capture whawould be a once in a lifetime "4 Generation picture" that included My grandfather, father (Edward Adam, Jr.) , brother (Edward Michael Adam), and nephew (Gregory Michael Adam). They are also ALL first borns. Truly - a picture to remember.

Lighting, Lighting, Lighting.

To use a light or not to use a light? This question has befuddled many videographers and their clients for years.

We - as videographers - are there to capture your special day, but we don't want to ruin the mood by having a bright light on the camera, or elsewhere. This mainly comes up during the reception when the lights go down for dancing.

However, the flip side of this goes back to that famous saying from the Bible - We "cannot make bricks without straw." If the reception area is completely dark, then our cameras cannot pick up any images, and therefore you will be looking at a black screen during your video, which contradicts the whole reason for getting the video made.

Also, there are several assumptions that are made when it comes to camera lighting or remote/detached lighting. For example: many people think that the light will be directly in their face, and therefore making them uncomfortable. Any videographer who knows what they are doing will know how to "bounce the light"

Prime example, a wedding we did in a dance hall, these frame grabs are within 5 minutes of each other:

Quite a difference! We had a single remote light on the stage by the DJ, and it was able to flood enough light to give the camera an image to capture, but not be overpowering to the people who were dancing.

Now of course, we COULD correct the "darker image", but this is what you would end up with:

Notice the grain? The unsharp image? This detracts from the whole experience.

There is also the issue of the "on camera light." Some videographers will beam this directly into the crowd or the subject in question. In some cases, this is necessary, but most of the time, it is not. The videographer should bounce the light to give enough light on the subject for the camera.

Our philosophy on remote or on-camera lighting is basically "play it by ear." We ALWAYS let our clients know the possibility of the need for remote or on camera lighting. We do everything that we can to avoid it, but sometimes, we have to.

So don't be afraid of it! It will benefit the overall effect of the video, and allow you to enjoy your wedding video even more.
